Delightful ATC
Delightful, originally uploaded by wisteriax.
Trying my hand at some Digital ATCs. I call this one delightful… I think you can see why
Painterly?
Painterly?, originally uploaded by wisteriax.
My roses and peonies are in full bloom right now and I wanted to capture their beauty before it disappears. So I tried my hand at some still life photos. Unfortunately the photos did not turn out too well – I have a lot to learn!
But for fun, I played around with some special effects on my Android tablet. This one sort of looks a little bit painterly to me.
Lady Luck
Lady Luck, my homing pigeon hen, originally uploaded by wisteriax.
Drawing of my Homing Pigeon hen Lady Luck. Based on a photo by my very talented husband.
Pen & Ink with watercolors. (I used some pearlescent paints on this one to mimic the irridescence of her feathers in real life…)
Ash
Ash in color…, originally uploaded by wisteriax.
A pen and ink drawing of Ash, my Old Dutch Capuchine pigeon. I laid down watercolors after impatiently drying the ink with a heat gun. (so many ideas, so little time!)
Oliver in the Hibiscus
Oliver in the Hibiscus, originally uploaded by wisteriax.
I drew this awhile ago, using waterproof fountain pen ink and some watercolors. (Noodler’s Bulletproof Black, I think…in a Namiki Falcon ef pen)
Based on a photo I took of Oliver the dove, posing in my hibiscus plant. He is a patient little guy, and has posed for many a photo ![]()
Self Portrait
self portrait, originally uploaded by wisteriax.
Done with ArtRage. A bit of a cross between photo collage and digital painting. (flowers from our front porch…)
Birdhouses
birdhaus trio, originally uploaded by wisteriax.
This one was done with ArtRage on my PC. I based it on a photo I took in the backyard one summer. I think all of these birdhouses are gone now – did not survive the weather. Oh well.
I like the way ArtRage mimics natural media. It looks very realistic.
White on Black
letter in progress, originally uploaded by wisteriax.
I love the look of this opaque white ink on black paper. The ink is Noodler’s White Peacock, which is not meant for fountain pens. So I dug out my dip pens to write a letter. I think I’ll try some drawings with it as well, in my journal that has black pages…
